It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of Jean-François Bauret. With Jean-François and Didier de Fays, we founded photographie.com. In 1996, when few people believed in the internet, Jean-François was immediately taken with the project. He introduced us to Guy Bourreau, who was then the head of Kodak, and Eddy Gassmann, the CEO of Laboratoires Picto. This made the adventure possible. Every day for a year we went to his “photo boutique” on the Rue des Batignolles, which served as both a museum and a showcase for its latest technology. We welcomed photographers of all ages and published their portfolios. That was the beginning of the Bourse du Talent, which today features the work of young photographers at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. Jean-François was a great artist. The day will soon come when his work will be rediscovered and seen by all. It was an honor to know him. Thank you, Jean-François.
