“Instincts is a work that reveals its own strength. I consider each picture to be a trace of an instinct that I have never explored in my work, and perhaps never in my life. All of the photos were taken in 2012. The series consists of 18 pieces, most of which are self-portraits or portraits of my partner. In each diptych, the image on the right was created digitally from photos of water, grass, clouds, flowers, stone, dirt and dust. I use photography as a tool to examine my relationship with the people in my life. I learned much through this project, not only about photography but about myself as well.” — Anna Di Prospero
The Galerie Madé is exhibiting the first part of Anna di Prospero’s series Instincts. Instincts is an ultra-sensory work, like an organic journey through the world as a young woman feels it and imagines herself within it. Composed of “mental archives,” traces, fragments of being, her world bursts with sensory emotions, fascinating and seducing the viewer.
Anna Di Prospero was born in Rome in 1987. She studied photography at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome and at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
