“Don’t call me homeless”
The Urban Cave is a photo series and a shared experience with homeless people. It was essential to me to photograph them with respect, capturing the contrast and sentiments of each situation. The images are my response to the beauty, dignity, determination and the perseverance of a particular way of life.
My thanks to all who love taking chances in darkness. And to my teachers at ICP (International Centre for Photography), to Eddie Adams and my colleagues from the collective “What We Saw”. Prints are by Matt McDonough. The Urban Cave is a collaborative project, made possible through the generosity of those I photographed and others who were happy to participate.
