Jim Linderman is a photography collector who brings an unusual perspective to the hobby. Initially a collector of early American folk art, his eye was shaped by the surface and wear of objects, a trait he believes should be found in photographs as well.
All things age and wear, why shouldn’t a photo? Especially in the day of digital pictures, in which the photographic object has no surface at all? “Vintage Photographs of Arcane Americana: The Jim Linderman Collection” contains 120 pages of images from his collection.
Linderman’s photography collection was used to compile the Grammy nominated book “Take Me To the Water: Immersion Baptism in Vintage Music and Photography” (Dust to Digital) and the over 100 original antique pictures were then donated to the International Center of Photography in New York City. Linderman is currently writing a book to be published in 2012 titled “Heroes of Vintage Sleaze” which will tell true stories from the golden days of soft-core smut.
