The Eyes: Issue No. 2

Preview

The second issue of The Eyes was finally released on March 20th, 2014. Created by Aman Iman Publishing, this biannual revue devoted to European photography made its debut last fall. With its meticulous layout and printing that more closely resembles art books than magazines, The Eyes has succeeded in forging a genuine link between paper and digital, with a printed revue and an application for iPad.

This is what is meant by “augmented reality.” Use your iPad or iPhone to discover all the hidden treasures of The Eyes, including videos, audio and 3D books.

The second issue expands on what was explored in the first. The Eyes deciphers Europe in its present state. It’s divided into three parts, Imago, Europa and Agora, featuring Tate Gallery curator Simon Baker, British photographer Stephen Gill, Sarajevo as seen by Agnès b., an interview with curator Clément Chéroux on Henri Cartier-Bresson, and an analysis of the rise of populism on the eve of the European elections.

And finally—this might sound familiar to readers of L’OeilThe Eyes has opened a “club” where readers can help fund the project and keep it independent.

The Eyes can also be seen an exhibition this season in Paris. The Eyes Collection #1 runs at the Galerie Intervalle through April 20th, 2014.
