Last November 30th ,in the salons of the Hotel de Marigny, at the Elysée Palace, the Grand Prix of the Golden Lens as well as eight other awards were presented as part of the international Festival of Culinary Photography, which took place in several French cities from November 3rd to 27th 2016. With the presentation of the awards in this gilded décor, the evening took on the allure of the Cannes Film festival or the César awards.
For this 2016 edition about thirty photographers took the challenge and played the game since the chosen laconic theme, “the table”, opened the doors wide without any real definition. Everyone there had complete freedom: fruit, vegetables, the offertory table, sharing, table of delights, table of silence and even the table like a battlefield after the celebratory meal. Black and white for the still-lifes. Table of melancholy. Wink at the impressionists with lunches on the grass. Very quickly, Francesco Majo’s images of ordinary life that seem to have been painted over the photo, got the upper hand. Some will say that this year was a good vintage. The Eye of Photography lays them on the table for you. Let’s eat!
