Tenerife 2011 –Fotonoviembre

Preview

The Island of Tenerife will once again be turning into the Center of the photography in Spain throughout the month of November. Since 1991 Tenerife has been organizing a biennial photography show. This year’s edition, despite recent difficulties, will be presenting more than 200 artists across 45 exhibitions.

This 11th edition of PhotoNovember tries to be a common denominator of the image, gathering together different aspects related to contemporary art, new technologies, photographic heritage, personal creation and evolution.

The official section of the Festival is extensive and interesting, while the Festival’s dynamic axis is composed of what Festival organizers have called “Atlanticas colectivas”, a section including fringe artists.

The official selection includes Anne-Lise Broyer’s works (Au Roi du bois), Carlo Gianferro (Gypsy Interiors) – author of the photo who accompanies this news-, Paula Muhr (Females under tension), Simone Stoll (Walking) and Nacho Arias Careaga (Room 027).

Festival creator and director Antonio Vela is a silent, unpretentious person, whose dedication brought the low budget festival in Tenerife to the center of photography in Spain. The festival offers a surprising collection of discoveries, reflections and pedagogy. It has managed to fill the Island of images and something more important: interest and demand for the image.

The event runs from November 2011 until January 2012.
