The photos have a crazy charm. They are funny, beautiful, full of imagination. They are signed Sylvia Galmot. The exhibition is entitled: “Paris is a Woman”. It is held at the Catherine Houard Gallery until November 30th.
The images are accompanied by this text:
Starting from famous cinematographic scenes, Sylvia plays with the contemporary collective imaginary world. By reconstructing the universes of the great eternal masterpieces of cinema, she recreates troubling universes by their proximity and also their singularity. At the same time identical and different, these images renew the original model. By forcing the viewer to look again, she insensibly insinuates, as in a break-in, new interpretations and meanings. And, according to the images, she substitutes her own vision, composes new mythical figures of modernity and finally imposes her own vision of the symbols of feminity; a theme dear to the artist that she already, patiently worked on in her series “Les Parisiennes”.
