Stephan Zaubitzer has been developing his project “Grand Ecrans” (“Big Screens”) since 2003. Today he is raising money for the project on the crowdfunding website KissKissBankBank, until september 12th.

“I’ve been taking pictures of cinemas in city centers throughout the world. With the emergence of video and television, these cinemas are experiencing considerable changes. Some of them will have the financial capacity to invest in new formats, others will not. My work intends to appraise the world’s cinemas at the very moment of these technological developments. America needs to be a part of the project, and California, Hollywood, considered the cradle of cinema, is our next stop!”
Stephan Zaubitzer is a self-taught photographer whose work explores various techniques and formats in which light plays a crucial role. In 2003 he received a World Press Photo award.
