How nice the work on these visual associations with the very particular inspiration of our friend Silvano Ruffini. I was won over as soon as I received the first proof sheets of his research. This complex universe which intimately links for our own eternity, the past, the present and the future, the object, the flesh and the soul, the horror, the life and the memory, all this with a single image, everything is in front of us. When each image becomes a series, History is offered to us. I would not comment on the content, It is totally unnecessary and that would even be silly. Much has been told while only part of this work is offered to us exclusively.
It is not for illustrating a text that Silvano made the choice of the title of Primo Livi’s beautiful book “se questo è un uomo”. No, it looks like a tribute with a different language to share the same consciousness of an intangible world.
As far as photography is concerned, it is a work of creation and a mastery of the image much researched. A subtle blend of his usual techniques very well mastered by Silvano and the use of some very effective innovations, without any sophistication. The violence and emotion released by each image is showed in this very direct and catchy dialogue with the reader. The call is masterful without any image representing rudeness, vulgarity or a provocative visual horror. This series, already superb, is not yet finished; because the work of each image is complicated both for the conceptual outcome of each creation and for its technical translation.
