At the origin of this project, Séverine Escobar and Jérôme Poulalier, two photographers, both 30 years old, one impassioned by atmospheres and urban landscapes, the other more socially oriented, both with an exacerbated tendency for portrait photography. In the strength of this complementarity they decided to create the “Others” project which will consist of several series. The goal being to photograph people that we pass by and whose existence we do not perceive, to give them an identity.
In this first series, the young duo worked in immersion in the bars of Brussels and its surroundings to document the life of their habitual clients. The first part is entitled “Men know why”, in tribute to the famous Jupiler Belgian beer slogan.
After this holiday season where people returned to their roots, enjoyed their family, ate well and started the new year well surrounded, others lived this period in a more solitary manner… The two photographers chose for the end of 2015 to circulate in these Belgian bars in order to meet these people and to make their portraits.
