Images/Cité is organizing an evening entitled Walker Evans (1903-1975) tomorrow, Wednesday, September 27th. A screening of photographs taken by the American master of documentary and vernacular photography will be followed by a discussion between Gilles Mora and Alain Flescher. The two critics as well as the public will have at heart to study together the different facets in the work of the American photographer. “Views of architecture, shops, warehouses, signs, street photographs and photographs of interiors mark his work … It is by privileging this vision of architecture and the city that the work of Walker Evans will be discussed during the evening », as announced by Images / Cité.
Gilles Mora is the artistic director of Pavillon Populaire in Montpellier, specialized in modern and contemporary photography. He’s also an art criticism. Alain Flescher is the director of the Fresnoy – National Studio of Contemporary Arts, also critic and writer.
