Mark Peterson is one of the most active and published photographers in the current editorial scene. He is regularly published in The New York Times Magazine, New York Magazine, New Yorker, etc., and his work consists of the depiction of political figures, people of wealth and notoriety, but more importantly, he captures the drama of political moments in our ever-delirious times. Peterson is the recipient of the W. Eugene Smith Grant, and the Alfred Eisenstaedt Award for magazine photography. Steidl published his book Political Theatre in 2016 and will publish his new book White Noise in the summer 2021. His photographs are original, confrontational, up-close, and most of all, exposing in the faces of his subjects, the deep conflicts of our times. Photographer Charles Traub, the chairman of SVA’s Photography, Video and Related Media will host the event, and interlock with Mark to probe his methodology and intentions.
