After three decades of society photography, Roxanne Lowit has become a star in her own right. She is part of the “scene” and everyone who is anybody knows her. Since the late 70s the fashion aficionado has not missed a glamorous event, VIP party, or major catwalk show. Her portfolio is an archive of the world of glamour.
As a successful fashion designer she originally only shot her own creations at shows, then her interests expanded. She was no stranger to this scene and all doors where open for her. Before any photographer had access to backstage, model friends took Lowit behind the scenes. She photographed in the legendary Studio 54 in New York as well as Le Palace in Paris and knows all the trendy clubs of the new millennium. To call Roxanne Lowit a paparazzo would be doing her an injustice. From her primarily black and white prints one can tell her interests do not lie in gossip, but seek a deeper truth.
