The title of this group exhibition, Sous le soleil exactement (‘Under the Sun’), is taken from a song by Serge Gainsbourg. The show is dedicated to the Mediterranean and features a selection of artists and painters in resonance with the photography festivals in Lyon. Dolorès Marat is in the spotlight here, with her photographs that give the Mediterranean a certain “gravity.” Since 2005, she has travelled through the legendary cities of Marseille, Bastia, Tunisia, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, fascinated by the immutable aspect of the Old World.
The next destinations will be Algeria, Turkey, Greece, Sicily and Cyprus, with her journey ending in 2013, when Marat will feel as though she has found the invisible and eternal bond that makes the Mediterranean the Mare Midi Terra.
