There is a closeness to a village that you cannot find in a big city. A playground during childhood, the village becomes, in adolescence, the source of a certain boredom that prompts one to escape from it, to explore a larger world.
Through this project, I learned to look at my village. I reclaimed the place, I took the time to focus on the people, the moments, those that make this village exist and that give me the feeling of never having left when I return home.
Born in 1996, Margot Pivot grew up in the Beaujolais Vert mountains. Surrounded by forests and farms, she developed her passion for photography which led her to studies at ETPA in Toulouse, where she obtained the Grand Prix in 2018. In 2019, she obtained the documentary prize as well as the public prize at the Vendôme Photographic Walks. Anchored in a social reality that is close to her, Margot Pivot’s photos show her sincere look at the world around her.
