The Prix VIRGINIA is organized by the Association SYLVIA S. It recognizes the work of a woman photographer.
Awarded every other year, beginning in 2012, the Prix Virginia is open to all living professional women photographers, regardless of age or nationality, with the exception of photojounalisms and advertising. In 2012, the British photographer Liz Hingley, won the Prix VIRGINIA, with her series which focus on poverty in the UK.
Applicants may submit their works before May, 16 2014. The Winner will be announced in October 2014.
Photographs submitted for the Prix VIRGINIA must not have been exhibited in France. The Jury is composed of eight key cultural _gures who deliberate and designate the Winner. Members serve one two-year term, with the exception of the President and a representative of M, the magazine of le Monde.
The winning applicant for the Prix VIRGINIA will be awarded 10 000€ by the Association Sylvia S. Her work will be published in one of the November issues of M, the magazine of Le Monde, during “Le Mois de la Photo” in Paris.
