Since 2016 the festival give an important place to emerging photography with the program Tremplin Jeunes Talents. Sarah Moon the president and the jury of Planches Contact this year selected five candidates among the 410 application files that came from 27 countries.
The photographers of the Tremplin Jeunes Talents are assisted during their residencies and guided during the production of their work. Two awards accompanies the Tremplin Jeunes Talents: the prize of the jury given during the inaugural week end and a residency with the festival InCadaqués and the Prix du Public given at the end of the festival. The Tremplin Jeunes Talents is supported by the Fnac and by the festival InCadaqués.
Ousmane Goïta – Faire
the series Faire of Ousmane Goïta is a visual exploration inspired by the saying in Mali: « Men’s place is where he can find work to do. ». Ousmane Goïta met the french and foreign workers who traveled to work in Normandy. from construction sites to hair salons, from garages to technological enterprises. The pictures show the links created between the workers and their working environment and the cross cultural relations and exchanges created.
Julia Lê – Come Rain Come Shine
Attracted by themes close to what she has experienced, Julia Lê looks at portraits in a documentary way. for this residency she met the room attendants of the hotels of the Côte Fleurie. Both back bones and framework of the hotels the maids work in the shadows of their own labor often hidden away, standardised, sometimes denigrated. Julia Lê give them a voice each in front of the lens.
Carlo Lombardi – Stands in Sadness Still
Searching the echos of the Second World War in Normandy, Carlo Lombardi wants to go beyond the historical facts, the nostalgia and the myths. Through civilians personal stories, he brings to light the emotional reality sometimes fragmented of History.
Isabelle Scotta – Anamnesis
Off season, at night going back and forth between the town, the beach and the forest, Isabelle Scotta use the territory searching for a new way to look « at the decor» of Deauville. She tessellate the different periods of the city:architecture of the villas, hotels, interiors.
Sidonie Van Den Dries – Playground Blues
Sidonie Van den Dries explored Normandy looking for unexpected coloured spots in the landscape: those of the playgrounds. Whales and dragons, castles, pirates ships and playground slides with weird shapes. Playgrounds inspire her with a mix of fascination and nostalgia.
