In Mati, the night of July 23rd to 24th was the scene of a terrible fire, the deadliest in Europe since 1949 : 93 victims.
Mati, 40 km north-east of Athens.
5260 hectares burned in a few hours, in 10 minutes the seaside resort is reached.
1046 homes burned, 500 cars burned out, 93 people died, 25 are missing.
At a speed of 40km/h, the 30-meter-high flames consumed the scene.
Leaving only desolation, in these landscapes more and more affected by the always stronger fire.
