On 15 November, the auction house ADER will hold its annual sale to coincide with Paris Photo 2015. This year, the Photography catalogue includes a chapter of Rare photographic books. Books that are rare because they are signed, previously unreleased or limited editions: the sale holds a wealth of surprises for enthusiasts!
Among the Photographic Books, collectors will be treated to an array of works including books on primitive photography, some major classics from the 1930s, modern works and prints, a few rare Chinese books and the very first book of Germaine Krull entitled Der Akt [estimated at between €3,500 and €4,500]. Brassaï fans will be able to admire Transmutations, one of ten deluxe versions signed by the artist for his editor and the man behind the project, Robert Wise [estimated at between €12,000 and €15,000]. Also on sale will be La Cantate de Narcisse by Laure Albin Guillot, of which only 30 copies were printed [estimated at between €6,000 and €8,000]. For surrealists, the experts have selected Le coeur de Pic by Lise Deharme dedicated to cinema historian Georges Sadoul. The decorative micrographs by Laure Albin Guillot will be showcased [estimated at between €4,000 and €5,000]. Finally those in love with the “city of love”, a deluxe copy of La banlieue de Paris by Robert Doisneau, of which only 30 copies exist. This copy, carefully preserved in its silk cover, will delight collectors [estimated at between €4,000 and €6,000].
