Guillaume Hebert obtained with this series: “Updated Landscape”, the 2018 Public Prize of the Festival Circulation(s).
Guillaume Henbert’s landscape paintings, entitled “Landscape Landscape”, offer a dichotomous interpretation of landscape, forming images of a hybrid genre in which the vision of the painters of yesteryear and that of a contemporary photographer mingle. At first glance, we hesitate. The eye oscillates inevitably between the front and the background, photography and painting, before settling on the whole, and to contemplate the fusion of the two mediums creating a plausible trompe l’oeil. The entanglement of the two visuals is achieved pixel by pixel, without leaving any gaps. The continuity of painting to photography is perfectly mastered and leads to what Guillaume Hebert name photographic painting.
