The selection of images taken from the private collection of Eduardo Arroyo, covering different periods and with different styles and counting on a common denominator: in all of them those portrayed seem to challenge gravity.
Photography has always sparked the curiosity of artists, who cut them out of news- papers or magazines, buy them in street markets, or find them in long lost family albums. Photography catches their attention, stimulates their reason, and feeds their imagination, turning the ordinary into something singular and moving.
This is precisely the case with Eduardo Arroyo, who amasses them with a clear preference for black and white: several thousand images of all genres, from all eras, produced by professional photographers from press agencies and photo studios, but also by unknown, unidentified, anonymous authors.
This selection of photographs, anonymous images, is tremendously eye-catching, it entices us, piques our interest. It constitutes a leap ahead, a new experience in which choosing the simplest photograph already endows it with beauty and lyricism. Living is taking that leap of faith: falling over, getting hurt, and getting up again.
