A new fair dedicated solely to photography will take place in Macau, China, from March 25 to 28, 2018. The fair will feature galleries, exhibitions and conferences around photography, moving images, digital art. Around 6o galleries from around the world are already awaited. The event will take place at the Venetian Exhibition Hall.
The exhibit, which will feature presentations, discussions and short films by major collectors (Galila Hollander, Mario Von Kelterborn, Alain Servais), will be the focus of the fair. From the executive director’s own words, Cecilia Ho, the fair seeks to settle ” At the heart of the quickly-expanding art and cultural scene in Asia, our contemporary art photography fair will bring together creative talents from Asia and beyond to promote and celebrate photography and video art, which are mediums rapidly gaining recognition in the region. ”
The fair will also seek to put the history of Macau in the heart of its colonial, cultural and economic heritage. It will be thought of as a window of understanding on one of the most dynamic economies in Asia. Finally, it will host each year a focus on a nation that has promoted and helped the development of photography in the world. The first of these focus will be on the city of Istanbul. The project is curated by Nina Öger.
The fair is organized by Red Balloon Co. Ltd. and supported by a group of gallery owners, curators, critics and museum directors and cultural and artistic institutions.
