The Californian art photography fair PhotoLA just ended and with it, four days of meetings aimed at mutual discoveries, education and discussion.
Part of what this city seems to produced was there, including some collectors. The eyes were riveted to the photographs hanging on the walls, but you could certainly sense that the mind was elsewhere. It has to be said that a few days before his investiture as 45th president of the United States, Trump was clearly on everyone’s lips and the anxiety was more than perceptible.
Apart from the photographs chosen for you here, my best meeting this week was with Penny Wolin, this photographer, historian, and sociologist who has produced quite a passionate documentary work about Jewish photographers that merits a museum exhibition (http://descendantsoflight.com). So long L.A.!
