The first sale to coincide with Paris Photo this week is a part of the collection of former Swiss gallerist Kaspar M. Fleischmann, which will be sold in two different sessions to benefit the Center of Photography at the University of Zurich. The first session of the Fleischmann collection will be held November 13th at 6pm with 154 lots from big names like Eugène Atget (Lot 33), Brassaï (Lot 26) and a large set of Richard Avedon portraits (Lot 131), to name but a few.
The second session will be held on November 14th at 7pm, featuring a delightful collection of architectural photographs by Berenice Abbott, related to her most famous project, Changing New York (1935-1939), commissioned by the American government during the economic crisis affecting the country. The sale sheds light on specific aspect of her work, allowing one to admire a certain unity despite the diversity of her work.
