This is one of the strong themes of Phot’Aubrac. There were many so-called “animal” photographers who had installed their works on the improvised walls of the stables.
I have selected a few works that bring us more than a simple descriptive vision.
Phot’Aubrac 2021: Clément Cornec
The many months he spent in Antarctica enabled Clément Cornec to bring back many images of this great continent, which was apparently inhospitable. His photographs show us that it is not so and that an animal life has been able to settle and adapt in this white and icy desert.
Phot’Aubrac 2021: Denis Lionnet & Olivier Steff
It is a pair of photographers who travel together. The photographs of this polar region show us this animal which has been able to resist and adapt for millennia to all changes in its environment. Ovibos, this muskox, is a true warrior who has adapted to climate change, predators and his environment. This bovid, which can travel long distances, is agile like a goat, and can withstand snowstorms under extremely low temperatures (- 40 ° C).

Renaud Dengreville can be considered as one of the local of this festival. He presented a large series of images which identifies the local fauna of Aubrac in attitudes of complicity with the photographer.
Phot’Aubrac 2021: Joël Brunet
Joël Brunet knows, with a lot of patience, how to surprise the wild animals that evolve in their natural environment. His photographs bring us to our common environment. They act as a reminder for all those who have forgotten it, or never known it like many of our children.
