Peter Fetterman Gallery wishes you Happy Holiday’s and welcome to Rule Britannia: The Great British Holiday Photo Exhibition.
Great Britain’s global influence roots itself in the British Empire that formed during the European colonial era and peaked in the early 20th century before embarking on decolonization following World War II. Outlasting its empire, the nation has had a long history of major contributions to the arts and sciences.
William Shakespeare is regarded as one of the greatest writers in the history of English literature. British scientists discovered gravity, hydrogen and penicillin and developed theories in aerodynamics and natural evolution. It is also the home and inspiration for some of the greatest minds in photography.
This winter we present a selection of works that pay homage to the vibrancy and character of the British people. The exhibition will feature works by Bert Hardy, Thurston Hopkins, Colin Jones, Grace Robertson, and Wolfgang Suschitzky. The images presented in “Rule Britannia” step outside the confines of the nation’s landmark visuals, offering insight on the beauty of a nations’ vital resource, its people. Focusing on the character and beauty within the British people, the message is universal. The photographs inspire and provoke interest in humanity and kinship.
