It’s been 175 years since François Arago announced the famous discovery of the Académie des Sciences, but in Spain, training in photography remains underdeveloped and entirely absent from Spanish universities. Photography was made by amateurs who were, until the 1970s, self-taught. Hence the similarities in theme and style, since photographers passed on what they knew in terms of both technique and subject matter.
