The Pavillon des Lettres presents “Le Syndrome de Stendhal”, a new exhibition by Guillaume Holzer, which explores the hypnotic power of the landscapes of the Azores and their capacity to disturb the mind.
In a poetic approach, “Le Syndrome de Stendhal” explores the experience of a beauty so intense that it disturbs the mind, of an emotion so strong that it deprives one of rest. Guillaume Holzer composes a sensitive map of this fragile moment, and transports the visitor into a world in suspension.
This series of photographs was born from this experience of collective insomnia that he experienced. He does not seek to tell a story, but to capture fragments of this vertigo, this moment of shift between reality and the imaginary, between waking and dreaming, because it is rare to be awake to this point, to feel one’s mind burning under the weight of the sublime.
