Paris, August 1942. Rumor had it that a place for women existed somewhere in the city. A place of freedom, where they could drink, smoke and love each other. A place no man could enter. The rumor said the place was called “Les fumeuses.”
Paul von Borax takes viewers back to the Second World War, when the capital was covered in grey-green skies and the sound of boots and Henschel tanks filled the air. He’s there, always in fine company, showing pictures to models in the street, drawing pictures in little notebooks of the upcoming shoots, and slipping into this impossible place to practice his art.
