Born in Buzançais, France, in 1955, Pascal Maitre studied psychology before beginning a career in photojournalism in 1979. His numerous assignments have taken him all over the Earth, from Afghanistan to South America. His books, In the Heart of Africa and Madagascar: Travels in a World Apart, gather images from more than 20 years of work in Africa. Pascal Maitre has traveled the world, tirelessly testifying to its ferocity, but also to its beauty and depth, trying to quench his inextinguishable thirst for knowledge and encounters. In Africa, he gave an account on more than forty countries which he analyzed, understood, loved. His photographs have been published in publications around the world, including GEO, National Geographic, FigaroNewsweekLife, and many others. One of his latest books is entitled Unbelievable Africa and was published in 2012 by Lammerhuber. He is been represented for more than twenty years by Cosmos, one of the prestigious agencies of great reportages. Pascal Maitre is based in Paris, France.
