Preview

1971, the Epinay congress just occurred, the united left is making progress. From meetings to gatherings to congressional demonstrations, Pascal Lebrun covered François Mitterrand’s career path, his women and men, some of whom would later become part of future governments and become part of French History.

At 21, the photographer worked for the weekly Unité that would go out of print in 1986. In 1981, at 28, he helped create the daily Socialist Combat as senior editor of the photo department. In 1988, he traveled throughout France for Communes de France for whom he had been working since 1976. The weekly Vendredi was created in 1991 with Pascal Lebrun in the photo department. In 1997, he witnessed the publication’s closing.

In the meantime, General Secretary François Mitterrand became the nation’s President. From Left-wing Union meetings to the luxury of the Presidential Palace, the streets of Paris or China, these are some of the pictures the photographer is presenting today.
