Launched last week, the Esprit Singulier exhibition presents the Auberive Abbey collection. Its founder and collector, Jean-Claude Volot, gathered over three decades more than 2500 works constituting one of the largest collections of modern and contemporary art where singular art, figurative expressionism and folk art cohabitate and intermingle.
The exhibition presents approximately 600 works by 70 artists, including certain prodigious names in photography, alongside folk art, singular art, free figuration, contemporary or surrealist art. Filiations, mirror play, invisible links create this ensemble by reminding us that the foundation of the art lies in its power to shake the norm.
