Hamiltons Gallery will be exhibiting a broad range of works by gallery artists, including Irving Penn, Helmut Newton, Roger Ballen, Gilles Bensimon, Murray Fredericks, Horst P. Horst, Annie Leibovitz, Guido Mocafico, Erwin Olaf, Bettina Rheims, Herb Ritts, Steve Schapiro, Tomio Seike, Christopher Thomas, and Albert Watson.
Among the highlights will be a rare oversized print of Newton’s Big Nude XII, from his famous series, and a selection of unique colour polaroids which he shot during his time in LA. Examples of two important series by Irving Penn will be on view – platinum prints of his Cigarettes, first exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1975, and also his Cranium Architecture pictures, which have not been widely seen in over twenty years.
Two significant colour pictures by Bettina Rheims will be highlighted, “Elizabeth Berkley in Bamboo Bushes, LA, 1994” and “Traci Lords Holding a Cigarette in the ‘Valentino Room’ of the Alexandria Hotel, Los Angeles, April 1994”. Guido Mocafico, well known for his ‘Serpens’ series, will be represented with two massive prints from ‘Aranea’, presenting deadly spiders as objects of great beauty in an overwhelming scale.
