Introduction
Since opening its doors in Hamburg, Germany, the gallery has focussed on the presentation and discovery of young emerging talent in contemporary photography, showing formal, conceptual work from the academic field as well as narrative, documentary work and reportage. In 2010 the gallery opened a second showroom in Berlin. Here the gallery presents alternating exhibitions by represented artists, artists talks and book signings.

What is your point of view on the financial side of the photographic market today ?
Times like these are always difficult for emerging, contemporary work. In times of economic uncertainties, people tend to withdraw to more secured, established positions. So to me as a contemporary dealer, it seems most important to tell people that right now really are the best times to make new descoveries, find out about new, emerging positions – and many of them at very reasonable prices.

Since it’s introduction into the field of fine art photography by William Eggleston’s historic exhibition „Color Photography“ at the Museum of Modern Art in New York curated by John Szarkowski in 1976, color has become one of the main means of expression in artistic photography besides form, structure and composition.
Color is not merely perceived, it is felt! It is the viewer’s emotional response to color that has made it such a strong tool in the hands of artists working in photography. Eggleston and his contemporaries of the New Color movement, Steven Shore, Garry Winogrand or Joel Sternfeld, have had strong influence on generations of photographers.
At Paris Photo 2011, the gallery will present four contemporary photographers whose use of color has given them distinguished positions in photography today:

• Michel Campeau “Darkrooms“
Presented at the Recontres d’Arles in 2010 to great critical acclaim and published by Martin Parr at Nazraeli Press, Michel Campeau’s series „Darkrooms“ is the perfect example of the use of color as a major means of expression. In a piece for Aperture Magazine about the series, Martin Parr wrote: Most photographers have spent hours and days in that peculiar environment known as the darkroom. Here, prints are magically created using chemicals and light. These photographs show the passing of an era. As digital production takes hold to a greater and greater extent, we will look back at these images and mourn the darkroom’s passing.

• Robert Voit “Clowns“
In his series “New Trees“ Robert Voit depicted mobile phone antennas camouflaged as trees. For his new series, Robert Voit has taken his topic, Camouflage, to another subject matter: Clowns. His series is a study of the reality of appearance and the opacity of illusion. In contrast to our viewing pattern, these clowns don’t smile or laugh, they just look with a neutral, blank expression. Everything is well hidden behind a perfect camouflage. The emotional response to these images is created solely by the use of color.

• Peter Bialobrzeski “Informal Arrangements“
The gallery would like pay tribute to the fair’s guest of honor, Africa, by presenting Peter Bialobrzeski’s series „Informal Arrangements“ that was created in the townships of Soweto, South Africa. After documenting facades and buildings as in his series “Neontigers” or “Case Study Homes”, Peter Bialobrzeski now enters habitats and documents the intriors of township shacks and buidlings, searching for the traces of every day life; showing proof of the pride and dignity of the inhabitants.

•Jessica Backhaus “Once, still and forever”
In her new series “Once, still and forever”, as in all of her work, Jessica Backhaus develops a strong sense for the melancholy of the every-day and the emotional quality of color and light. She captures vernacular scenes and situations that the viewer may have passed by unattentive and we learn about the artists way of seeing and are allowed to share her perception of the world.
