Introduction
Guido Costa Projects is open since a decade in Torino. The gallery rapresent 17 artists from different country in exclusivity for Italy. GCP produce 4 show each year and support several production outside, for museum shows, public exhibitions and so on. We are quite specialize in contemporary photography and in big installations or site specific projects. Many are the books and catalogue publish by GCP in occasion of solo show or relevant productions of his artists. GCP take part only to few artfairs in Italy and abroad. I’m part of the Paris Photo comitee since 3 years.
What is your point of view on the financial side of the photographic market today ?
I think we are a front of the same situation that is actually visible in the art market in general (and expecially in the contemporary art market). A front of a good number of masterpieces (or crucial artworks in a single artists production), sold with solid quotation, the mid-market (artworks of mid career artists, or medium level quality artworks of important artist), is quite depress with many unsold works in auction and in the primary galleries. Thanks to a law rate of quotations, the emerging art, or the jung artists in general, seems in better condition, with a stabile market.The reasons of that are many, and not only related to the actual credits situation… Guido Costa
