Introduction
Located in the Marais quarter, Polaris gallery opened a new, more substantial space in 2008 which is better suited to the exhibition of large works. The gallery works with contemporary, internationally-exhibiting artists of various mediums.
What is your point of view on the financial side of the photographic market today ?
It is clear to me as a gallery owner in France that the photography market has changed significantly towards buyers, who are younger and younger, and it is always amazing when we hang an exhibition of one of our photographers (we also show paintings and drawings) the average age of visitors descends dramatically ?
The art photography is less present in cultural spaces and galleries, however documentary photography is noticeable in those places, perhaps because the collector has evolved to accept their confrontation to these images.
Should Visa Pour l’Image be merged with the RIP Arles? … Bernard Utudjian
