Alexis Vasilikos is a Greek photographer and coeditor-in-chief of Phases Magazine, an online publication dedicated to photography which showcases three portfolios per week. He has accumulated images portraying his environment and developed a voluminous collection that have been assembled in different series. Alexis Vasilikos’ approach is characterized by the large space given to energies as well as to the principle according to which each photo is a particle outside of temporal reality. This is why he composed his photo series “edits” as he calls them, without worrying about spatiotemporal context. He connects the images according to his own feelings. Alexis Vasilikos explains that he considers photography as a form of meditation. He seems to avoid any attempt to create a feeling or a message. “Looking for meaning in images is like looking for water in a mirage.” Thus, the series Balancing Acts is a series that features daily life, oscillating between reality and chimera with mysticism and symbolism, even satire and humor.
