A joyful nostalgic album that brings together 60 personalities from the artistic world photographed by Jean-Pierre Laffont in the USA.
“I remember having striding along Broadway with Yves Montand and driving Marlene Jobert throughout Manhattan. I remember Gilbert Bécaud jumping from all his “100,000 volts” on the roof of the hotel Americana for what remains one of my favorite photos. What else ? Sylvie Vartan jogging over the East River on the Brooklyn Bridge. Sublime. ” JP Laffont
In this nostalgic but never sad memory album, photographer Jean-Pierre Laffont happily recounts his encounters with some sixty personalities from the artistic world during their stay in the United States. His own memories mingle here with those of 18 personalities such as Brigitte Bardot, Françoise Hardy, Claude Lelouch, Sylvie Vartan, Philippe Starck, Sheila, Serge Lama, Nana Mouskouri who agreed to engage inthe game of “I remember” through texts sometimes funny and moving.
Jean-Pierre Laffont moved to the United States in 1964, where he began a career as a photojournalist. He is, with his wife Éliane, a founding member of the agencies Gamma USA and Sygma Photo News which will become one of the leading photo agency. For fifty years, he travelled the globe and photographs the news, personalities and the economic and social problems of his time. In 2015, a great exhibition a selection of his work in the United States, Tumultueuse Amerique, was held at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris.
