“In my Calabria”- In the South of Italy there is a beautiful land where the sea meets the mountains and tells of the myth. Here there is a land that tells of many stories, of many lives. This magnificent land is called Calabria and it is my land. Calabria is a land where it is very easy to be amazed and get lost in the beauty of its landscapes. There has always been one thing that has fascinated me a lot, it’s mountains and those who live in these palce.If you happen to see those mountains in winter, on a foggy or snowy day, it’s like entering a sort of ancient fairy tale, in a painting by the painters of English romanticism or in the veiled landscapes of Leonardo Da Vinci. In Calabria in winter days and between its mountains there is a veil that envelops all things, a veil that does not fully reveal its landscapes, its colors and the creatures that live and pass through those places, a sort of protection that surrounds everything and protects everything. And it is precisely in foggy days that i ventured into these places that know of an ancient and indomitable force with them i tried to tell this story made of fog and men and amazing creatures and uncontaminated and sacred beauty. A prayer to nature and to the things that dwell in it. It is easy to fall in love with my land, its mountains, its woods, the cows that cross these places during the “transumanza”, the journey from one pasture to another during the transition from summer to winter. I came across the shepherds and what they tell, in their stories that come from afar, in a time when you breathed in a different way. It is fascinating to come across these places and discover their powerful and primitive beauty. Its silences, its rarefied colors, its skies made of cotton candy and its sunrises and sunsets that take your breath away and reconcile you with nature. This is my land, this is my Calabria.
