La Danse des Lumières
My photographic series is entitled “La danse des Lumières” because I use lightpainting as my main technique to portray my subjects. I love lightpainting because I have complete control of the light in order to shape shadow and light and when I paint my subjects is like I am truly painting a canvas. In those 20” in complete absence of light I love to use my flashlight like a brush to carve out of complete darkness the magic of light. I actually make very fluid movements like a small dance around my subjects and the outcome of this dance is always such a surprise. Light-painting is not at all an exact science, it is so much closer to enchantment, the outcome is often a real surprise and a trial and error effort. But it is exactly its unique outcome and the emotions that come with this practice that give me the thrill to continue experimenting with it. By being enamored and passionate about the Eras of Past, its fashion, Art, painters and photographers, I use light-painting as an opportunity to add a modern twist to my vintage style.
