Odile Andrieu, Director of Promenades photographiques de Vendôme
The festival Vendôme is ten years old and open to all artists, styles and visitors. It has no specific theme and opens a portion of its program to the public. The festival has developed, with Alliance-Loire, an international prize for photography schools, and, with the Fondation HSBC, studios for the underprivileged, who may find a means of expression through photography. Its existence has also led to renovation in the city center of an old military district with a merry-go-round. The budget is divided almost equally between public funds, volunteers and patrons.
For Alliance-Loire, the link between photography and promoting quality wines wasn’t obvious at first. But the beauty of the print, the diversity of the techniques used, the quality of the work convinces them to enter into a long-term partnership.
