We continue and present the projects selected by Les Nuits Photographiques 2015 awards, which took place on September 19th. Today is about “Moughtareb“, directed by Stephanos Mangriotis and Lucile Gruntz, French anthropologist and photographer respectively.
Keratsini, a western suburb of Athens, in the winter of 2013. Moughtareb tells the stories of three young Egyptians torn between nostalgia, xenophobia and hope for a better future. This is an intimate dive into their daily toil, disillusionment, friendships and dreams, one year after a violent racist attack against the first Egyptian fishmonger in the neighborhood, also the father of one of the protagonists . This multimedia work is the result of a collaboration between a photographer and an anthropologist, both working on migration in the Mediterranean.
