Nathalie Déposé : Charlotte Guy’s pick

Preview

The series about the family memory by Nathalie Déposé was selected by Charlotte Guy (Director of Editions Charlotte Sometimes and PEAH magazine) during portfolio review at the Gaite Lyrique on the 15 and 16 November 2014.

Here are three excerpts taken from my work on family memory. In the first part, I returned to my grandparents’ house after their death and before it could be sold. These three images were taken from a video I made 20 years ago. In the second part, I took my grandmother’s posture in the first series and asked women in my family to do the same. In the third part (a work in progress), I set out in the footsteps on my grandfather, who crossed the border to France when he was only 10 years old, in an attempt to flee poverty and Spain. When he died, everybody had different version of this story. I took the same journey and introduced into these turbulent landscapes photos of happy times spent in France which he had treasured.
