Les désordres de la bibliothèque presents an ensemble of manual photomontages from public and private libraries. It is joined with a prologue by Christian Prigent and an essay on the first published library photograph taken by W.H.F. Talbot in 1844. What sense we find in a library image other than being the intimate/private portrait of a reader and the cartography of his ramblings? In a digital era and counter to the academic vision of reading, this work asks: What is it to read today?
