Jérôme Bonnet, Ludovic Carème, Vincent Ferrané, Roberto Frankenberg, Samuel Kirszenbaum, Antoine Le Grand, Vincent Lignier, Jean-François Robert, Denis Rouvre, Patrick Swirc, Benni Valsson, Rüdy Waks, Kate Barry and Olivier Metzger. What do they have in common? They’re all used to shooting stars.
The exhibition by the modds agency, Regard Portraits, brings together portraits of some of the biggest names in cinema, music, fashion and literature.
For them, each portrait is a duel between photographer and subject. At a time when everyone is demanding more control over their image, imposing their vision, showing their best face, these straight-shooting photographic troublemakers are attempting to upset the peaceful display of certainty.
In their eyes, a portrait is produced through a complex alchemy. A mastery of light, a precision in the framing, a keen sense of direction, and utter conviction. All of these ingredients must be brought together to make the portrait surprising, moving… and long-lasting.
Several of the photographers exhibited here have had their work recognized by World Press Photo.
Regards Portraits is part of the official selection of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP).
