It has been a week of slight hangover, my apologies for being trivial it is not about me ,it is about the magazines . Hey, wake up photo departments, jump in the saddle, there are excellent photographers around the world taking excellent pictures, why wait for them to die to run their pictures. Magazine and newspaper accountants and treasurers should recognize one fundamental thing, “photography” doesn’t cost much, it isn’t just a superficial yearly occasion to come strutting through a festival. Photography is a language for the media as much as words and like them, it is important to get to know them, to select them, to put them in the appropriate order, in high and low sentences. There is music in “photography” and this music can be very profitable both in prestige and identity, even money for you Gentlemen who wear out your eyes on your calculators. And I continue to sound the alarm, in France, we must launch the “Page Layout Forum”. It has become painful in this country to open a newspaper or magazine, they are pretentious, inefficient, lacking courage, mediocre from beginning to end. Of course Libération stands out, but photography was part of the newspapers’ baptismal unction. This is just to open a sensitive debate.
