In “La Carte et le Territoire”, (The Map and the Territory), Jed Martins, the hero of Michel Houellebecq’s book, wanders through Paris’ 13th arrondissement, visiting the rue Domrémy, the place Jeanne d’Arc, the boulevard de l’hôpital, the Place des Alpes, and the Hyper Casino supermarket on the boulevard Vincent Auriol.
The Mayor of the 13th arrondissement geniously asked Emmanuel Nguyen Ngoc to photograph the locations mentioned by Houellebecq, and to provide captions quoted from the book. Amazingly, the author came to inaugurate the exhibition now taking place at the Casino supermarket before relocating to the neighborhood’s City Hall.
