Michaël Massart : Firewall

Preview

Instead of finding a happy medium that would ensure its survival, mankind lives with extremes, which will most probably lead to its end in many areas.

One example? Its phobia about germs! We live in a more and more sterilized world, where we must have control of everything and everyone, we are filled up with advertisements on products that eradicate 99,99% of germs and overuse antibiotics at the first signs of sneezing.

But just like any sport activity, lying down on the sofa will never make us cross the finish line first, do we really think that by avoiding any contact with germs and living in a bubble our body will be much more resistant? It is all about balance.

Michaël Massart

Belgian amateur photographer born in Namur and living in Habay-la-Neuve. In 2008 due to a knee injury, Michaël Massart was forced to give up sport and started taking a real interest in photography.

Self-taught and jack-of-all-trades, he mainly focuses on two fields: landscapes (especially with long exposures) and portraits.

What he is constantly looking for is to express emotion, surprise, build and stage the image in a unique way.

He favors preparation and reflection to obtain the desired effect.   What he likes most is the gestation period of a photographic idea during which he thinks about different possibilities for getting the expected visual effect without creating a photomontage. Not to mention the pleasure of making his models “suffer” for real.
