Truth to Emotion
My name is Melissa Ortiz and I am currently twenty years old and a student at ICP. For as long as I can remember, I had given myself the ability to create work based on life experiences from my life as well as others around me. In addition to this, I use Emotions as the muse for the images I create. We as humans suppress our emotions and that is what I want to convey to an audience. For many we take the experiences of life and deal with them in our own ways but often times our methods are ineffective and harmful to the mind, body, and soul. This collection is the depiction of self-discovery, as an artist, and as a human. It is a moment to find that not everything comes the way we expect, and that is something we have to accept. We must accept the detachment of ourselves so in time we have the ability to grow and discover our true meanings of life. Art in a way is a form of storytelling no matter how I intend to share my images, each one is a story that tells the viewer something that is in the form of honesty.
